Model Planning

After considering different cover pages' color schemes, I have noticed there are always artists on the covers. I want to feature an artist in my magazine as well, but it will be challenging given that I have been social distancing due to COVID-19.

I am planning on implementing as many safety measures as possible during the photoshoot(s). I will wear a mask and get tested for COVID-19 prior to the photoshoot, and I will ask my model to do the same. COVID-19 will restrict me from having various models in the same picture, unless they all wear masks. If we can coordinate their masks with their outfit, the photos will look more aesthetically pleasing. 

I will begin searching for potential models that I will feature. For my cover, I will feature a Black female model, as that was what most of my peers suggested in the questionnaire I created. I think it will be a good way of empowering Black women, especially given that males are often over credited in the hip-hop industry.

Comparing Music Magazine House Styles

Since I plan on creating a magazine dedicated to music, today I will comparing a few music magazine covers and their house styles. I want to take note on any similar patterns that I may notice in different brands. This type of research is essential because I want to create something original, but also appeal to my audience effectively.  First, I did research on the Billboard magazine. I noticed their masthead is a thick, bolded, and rounded font with all lowercase letters. Also, there is not a definite color for the masthead, as it changes for every issue. In late 2019, their magazine issues had a vertical masthead, but they have now changed it to appear horizontally (like most magazines).
