Cover Page Draft Feedback

I have drafted my magazine's cover page, and I am liking the overall look of it. I think I will be playing around with the font colors I use in order to improve its aesthetics and make it more visually appealing. Below are the two background photos I have not decided between. I think the picture I used for my draft is a better option, but I will look at the contrast between the colors and picture backgrounds. Also, I used unedited versions of the photos for my draft to keep a more natural look on the magazine. I will experiment with small edits to the lighting and contrast to see if they can make better contrasts with the font colors I currently have.

“They would always look at each other with raised eyebrows before asking me, “YOU rap?”,” recalls Naijah Lynes. She grew up hearing scoffs and mocking jokes from people who doubted her as a young woman with aspirations of becoming a rapper. She “was used to always being the outlier, the only girl in a group of boys freestyling.” In the beginning of her aspirations, she would feel upset that her long hours of rapping in her room would be discredited by other people, simply because of her gender. “There need to be more female rappers for young girls like myself to look up to and feel encouraged,” Naijah claimed. “I hope to be that rapper for someone one day.”  She did not grow up seeing a lot of female rappers besides Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, and Remy Ma. Lynes’ inspiration did not come from seeing rappers, as she started listening to them once she fell in love with rapping. “One day my friends were freestyling in the cafeteria during lunch. When it was my turn, it came to me naturally. I

Picture Options

Below are some of the pictures I will be choosing from to create my cover page, table of contents, and double page spread.

Picture Props

For my pictures, I want the model to wear minimal jewelry. I am trying to decide between silver and gold, so I will leave it up to her. I told her to come dressed in an outfit that best represents her comfort zone and her overall. Depending on the outfit, we will choose the jewelry that looks best. Below are some examples of jewelry looks that we may use as inspiration.
